Celebrating the life of

Ms. Olive Ijeoma Emebo

March 22, 1978 - March 06, 2021

Ms. Olive Ijeoma Emebo

Ms. Olive Ijeoma Emebo is from Ihioma in Nnenator autonomous community, Orlu Imo State Nigeria. She was born on March 22 1978 into the humble and loving family of Late Chief Sir Cletus A. Emebo and Lady Victoria C. Emebo in Albany New York USA.. She spent most of her childhood in Aba, Abia State Nigeria, with her parents and three siblings.

She attended Auntie Margaret’s nursery school in Enugu in Anambra State from
1980 – 1983. She then attended primary school at Constitution Crescent Primary School Aba, in Abia State Nigeria from 1984 – 1989. She was a very brilliant scholar and always excelled at the top of her class. She was strong, gentle and loved by all her teachers. After her primary education, she proceeded to Federal Government Girls College Abuloma, Rivers State for her secondary educations from 1990 – 1996, which she completed successfully.

Olive was very kind, compassionate, caring and loved people. It was these qualities that made her pursue a career in Nursing. She got an admission to study at the School of Nursing, Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku in Imo State Nigeria. She excelled, qualified and attained licence to practice Nursing in Nigeria. She later went on to School of Midwifery, Waterside, Onitsha, Anambra State where she also excelled and qualified as a Midwife. Olive was a registered staff nurse and midwife before she left Nigeria to London, United Kingdom in May 2005. She worked briefly in London before deciding to move to the United States. She worked at several hospitals as a health care professional whilst working hard to undertake her nursing board exams. It was tough to combine these preparations with working long shifts but in spite of the challenges, Olive worked hard, was determined and persevered. Olive was also a strong catholic and always aspired to become a Reverend Sister with the medical missionaries of Mary. Unfortunately, Olive became unwell but never lost her faith in God. She was resilient, very close to God, led an exemplary simple life and was very devout to her catholic faith. Even in her difficult and challenging times, she left her mark and positive impact on all the people she met.

On 6 March 2021, she passed away due to natural causes. In mourning our daughter, sister, niece and cousin, we are consoled that she is at peace with our Lord, Jesus Christ. May the good Lord who has called her to rest, grant her eternal and everlasting peace, amen. Adieu our daughter. We love you very much and we miss you.

She is survived by her mother, brother, sisters, uncles, aunties, nieces, nephew, brother and sister in laws and cousins.

May Olive Ijeoma Emebo’s gentle soul rest in perfect peace until we meet to part no more! Amen!!

This is tough to hear... I had wondered and asked on Olive's whereabouts since we left Sec. school but couldn't get a headway. March 5th and 6th 2021 were two very dark days for the class of 1996, F.G.G.C Abuloma, as we lost two of our own back to back. It's been really difficult to deal with these losses but we are comforted in the belief that God calls those home whom He needs for a higher and more noble assignment in heaven. Olive was that quiet but very intelligent classmate who always listened until all the loud voices (and we had a lot of those!) have been exhausted before pitching in her still small voice which nearly always became the unanimous choice. Even as teenagers trying to find our individual identities, one striking thing about Olive was that she always seemed much wiser than the rest of us and appeared to have her whole life all figured out. She had that calm composure that never seemed to be ruffled by anything and which a lot of us wish we had then, and even more so now with all the frightening incidents around the world. The news of Olive's demise has placed yet another crack in an already fragile wall of emotions for all of us, her classmates and friends. We all mourn with the Emebo family, Olive's close friends and colleagues, and all whose lives she impacted during her brief stay here on earth. We pray for God's strength and comfort to all she left behind. Olive Emebo! May God grant your soul eternal peace and rest till we meet to part no more....

- F.G.G.C. Abuloma Class of 1996, Port Harcourt, Rivers State

I knew Olive way back in Abuloma - 96 set. She was a friendly, easy going and quiet person who was quite thoughtful in her speech and interaction with others. This is sad and I pray that God gives the family the fortitude to bear this huge loss. May her soul rest in peace, amen.
