Passed away on March 11, 2021

Eithne Scott was born in Dublin, Ireland, the youngest of eleven children to parents John and Susan Dorney.  After completing her education at St. Louis High School, she graduated from the Brendan Smith Academy of Acting and helped found The Genesian Arts Society, and amateur drama group, playing locally in Dublin before she immigrated to America.

After living in San Francisco for a short time, she settled in Riverside, California where she married Norman Katz a returning Korean War veteran.  She was a member of several cultural groups, and was active in the PTA, the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America.  She taught a course in modeling for the Riverside School System, and was an active member in The Opera Guild and The Symphony Guild.

After the death of her husband, Eithne worked for The Dale Carnegie Organization in London and was active in The American Women’s Club and a member of the National Women’s Institute.  She was sales director for Hever Castle in Kent working for the Astor family.  While living in Virginia, Eithne helped found The Orange Music Society of Virginia.

In Savannah, she was a member of The Downtown Neighborhood Association, The Record Club, and an active member of The Downtown Garden Club.  She organized the discussion group, The Savannah Seven and was a member of The English Speaking Union, Savannah Branch, and The Victorian Society.

She is survived he her son, Professor Mark N. Katz, daughter-in-law, Dr. Nancy Yinger, and granddaughter, Melissa, also by her daughter, Susan Katz Keating, and grandchildren, Erin, Kelly and Courtney, and five great-grandchildren.

The private Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Inurnment will be private.
