Edward Y. Beery

Edward Yates Beery, 72, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at the home of his niece after his courageous battle with cancer. He was under the care of Hospice Savannah and his family.

Mr. Beery was born in Savannah, GA, son of Eugene Paul Beery, Sr. and Caroline Yates Beery. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Andrew Beery, his step-son Frankie Hanson and brother-in-law Bobby Hackle. He is survived by his brother Eugene Paul Beery, Jr. (Lorraine) and sister Caroline Beery Hackle. He is also survived by his step-granddaughter, many nieces & nephews and beloved friends.

He lived in Savannah, GA during his childhood. Attended Georgia Southwestern University, Americus, GA and excelled in woodworking. He moved to Florida and lived most of his adult life in the Tampa, FL area and retired from the Hillsborough County Schoolboard. He retired to Ruskin, FL until recently moving back to Savannah, GA to be near his family.

He will be remembered for his love of life, stories, humor, woodworking skills, ability to sketch and paint beautiful things from his favorite places around the ocean. His love for anything from the ocean and seaside was evident in every aspect of his life.

Edward was placed in his final resting place in Bonaventure Cemetery and the family plans to spread some of his ashes in the ocean that he loved.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 graveside at Bonaventure Cemetery with family and friends to gather afterwards for a celebration of life at his home located at 8628 Cresthill Avenue, Savannah, GA 31406.
