Ingrid Pies El-Khalidi

Passed away on January 28, 2021

Ingrid Pies El-Khalidi

Ingrid Helga El-Khalidi, age 80, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on January 28, 2021, with her husband, Hatem, at her side.

She was born in Cologne, Germany April 2, 1940, to the late Wilhelm and Louisa Pies.

She was a gifted and prolific painter on canvas and documented the last vestiges of the nomadic way of life on the Arabian Peninsula having lived there for over 45 years.

Ingrid and Hatem moved to Savannah from Saudi Arabia in 2017 to be closer to family in the States.

Ingrid is also survived by her sister Renate DeLucia, her niece, Nicole DeLucia and her husband Mattias Klink, her other niece, Daphne DeLucia, and several grand nieces and nephews in Germany. 

Her family in the states include her step children and their spouses:  Ramsey and Pam Khalidi, Omar and Holley El-Khalidi, Leila and Gordon Langford, and her beloved grandchildren:  Nicholas Pacini, Sumaya El-Khalidi, Laura Khalidi, Leila Khalidi, and Michael and Natalia Pacini as well as her new great granddaughter, Mia Pacini.

A Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist, Friday February 5th at 10 am.  The interment will be private.  

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Preservation Fund of the Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist, 222 East Harris Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401.
