Helen DeVere Tarver

Helen DeVere Tarver, 92, of Bluffton, SC passed away at her home on January 26, 2021.

Born July 21, 1928 in Savanna, IL to George and Helen (Dunn) DeVere, she was raised in Savannah, GA and was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy and Armstrong College. She was married to William B. Tarver on June 12, 1948. The couple lived briefly in Clemson, SC and Atlanta, GA before moving to the home in Bluffton that they shared until their deaths.

She is survived by her children: William B. Tarver, JR of Bluffton, SC, Clare Jones of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Zipperer (Alex) of Savannah, GA, Helen Fennelly (Wilson) of Thomasville, GA, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William B. Tarver; her son, Mark Mason Tarver, and daughter, Carol Rebecca Tarver Leo.

A private interment will take place at Bonaventure cemetery. No memorial events are scheduled at this time due to health restrictions. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent's Academy, Savannah.
