Opal R. Pitts, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Station Exchange. She was born on March 11, 1921.

Opal lived in Brunswick, GA and Altamonte Springs, FL. Before moving to Richmond Hill. She enjoyed walking, working out at the YMCA, Disney World, and anything chocolate! She was a Baptist for most of her life, but started attending Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church and Richmond Hill United Methodist Church when she moved back to Georgia.

She was predeceased by her parents, L.V. and Sibyl Roberson; her husband, Joseph A. Pitts; her daughter, Evelyn P. Padgett; her sister, Bernice Brannen; and her brothers, Vernon Roberson and Lucian Roberson.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Jo Padgett Buckley (Hank) of Metter; Ben T. Padgett, III (Cynthia) of Pooler; Patrick L. Padgett (Andrea) of Savannah; Michael J. Padgett (Robyn) of Richmond Hill; great-grandchildren, Heather and Candace Buckley; Amanda, Ashley, and Clayton Padgett, all of Savannah; and Jason and Rebekah Padgett, both of Richmond Hill; and her great, great grandson, McKay Padgett of Savannah.

The family would like to take this time to thank all of Opal’s wonderful caregivers at Station Exchange in Richmond Hill and Regency Southern Care of Statesboro. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Opal’s honor to Regency Southern Care Hospice, 325 S. Main Street, Statesboro, GA. 30458 or to Station Exchange Employee Holiday Fund, 3205 TSX Grand Central, Richmond Hill, GA. 31324.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral will be a private family ceremony.
