Richard Lane
Passed away on January 02, 2021
Richard Lee “Ricky” Lane, 65, Loving father, brother, uncle, and gramps, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 in Savannah. He was born November 1, 1955 in Japan to the late Colonel Hallie C. Lane and Penny Lane. He was a commercial fisherman known to many as “The Crab Man”, and also worked at the Georgia Ports as member of the ILA.
He was married to his wife Linda Kay Lane of 35 years, who also preceded him in death. He was the snack king with the biggest sweet tooth, which made him the favorite uncle and gramps to most. He was patiently awaiting the birth of his 3rd grandchild, (Hallie Kay), before he passed away.
He was almost 20 years sober and fought a good fight. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by his brother, John Michael Lane.
Surviving are his children, Jeff Lane, Sheppie Lane Adams (Wes), two grandchildren, Makenzie Lane and John Wesley Adams, his siblings, Gloria Moak (Walter), Hal Lane, Jr. (Janelle), Deby Lain, and Dede Clay (Jaime), as well as several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In Lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to The Hollenburg Fund, c/o The Savannah Jewish Foundation, 5111 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA 31405.
The family will receive friends at a visitation, Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
As Ricky would have wanted, please dress casually for the visitation.
I only knew Ricky for a few months but he was always helpful, friendly and had a great smile. he will be missed by everyone he touched during his short life. My prayers are with Desi in the entire family.
