Edna Mae Garren Gillis

Edna Mae Garren Gillis, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Memorial University Medical Center.  She was born July 5, 1936 in Ashboro, North Carolina to the late John Henry and Ollie Mae Lamb Garren.  Mrs. Gillis was retired from the Savannah Golf Club, where she served as the bookkeeper for over 25 years.  She was a member of North Salem Baptist Church and the American Business Women’s Association, where she was a past President.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Johnny” W. Gillis, Jr., granddaughter, Alicia Stewart, and her great-granddaughter, Leah Howe.  

Surviving are two sons, Anthony Dewitt Howe (Lisa Michelle), and David Earl Cox (Pat), two daughters, Nancy Morrow, and Cindy Stewart (Mike), stepson, Steve Gillis, three brothers, Robert Garren, Johnny Garren, and Carl Garren, one sister, Lois Garren, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be held Monday, December 28, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Forest Lawn Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
