Lola E. MacCauley

Lola Diana Erickson MacCauley, 91, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2020 at Azalealand Nursing Home. 

Lola was born August 19, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Captain Bert and Dagmar Erickson, immigrants from Norway and Sweden.  Lola was a first generation American.  

Lola met her future husband, Frank, a WWII Navy Veteran, while working as his father’s secretary for American Machine and Foundry in New York City.  Lola and Frank were married in 1947.  Frank was transferred to Savannah with Southern Nitrogen in 1955.  Lola and Frank had two children, Steven and Barbara.  

Lola was a dedicated mother, superb cook, and talented artist.  She was active for many years at St. James Catholic Church and St. James Catholic School.  She was a tireless volunteer at the church, school, and for Little Sisters of the Poor.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis (Frank) MacCauley; and her sisters, Mable Claussen of Long Island, NY,  and Lila King of Colorado Springs, CO.

Lola is survived by her children, Steven (Rosanne) MacCauley of Savannah and Barbara M. (Jim) Bland of Pawley’s Island, S.C.; grandchildren, Diana MacCauley and David (Katee) MacCauley, both of Savannah; Michael (Aimee) Bland of Columbia, SC; Carly Bland of Boston, MA and Kevin (Emily) Bland of Kansas City.  Lola had four great-grandchildren; Wilton, Adalyn and Lilian MacCauley, all of Savannah, and Dylan Bland of Columbia, SC  Sandra Chatelain of Boca Raton, FL is a beloved niece.

A private graveside service will be held in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. 

Remembrances may be made to the Humane Society for Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
