Celebrating the life of

Glorian Patricia Hiers

November 27, 1947 - November 23, 2020

Glorian Patricia Hiers

Glorian Patricia Hiers, a native of Savannah, peacefully passed into heaven as the sun rose on November 23, 2020, succumbing to complications from a long-term condition.  She was 72.  She was a graduate of Savannah High class of ’65 and Armstrong State College Nursing program as an Registered Nurse.  Our “Patty” was big hearted and selfless, devoted to family and her family of best and dearest friends, each one held precious and ever close to her heart. She was a devout Catholic who lived her faith by giving cheer, comfort, and care to others.  Nurse care was her calling and she thrived in giving of herself to others beginning as a hospital candy striper in her teens.  As a registered nurse she practiced hospital and private duty care of the homebound, as a pharmacy nurse, BCBS claims nurse, Red Cross nurse, and in-home geriatric caregiver of several family and extended family friends.  Life took her to Atlanta, Jacksonville, Smyrna, and Augusta, but she always returned to her beloved Savannah as she did again this year telling us,“It’s good to be back home”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Lucas Hiers, Sr and Vera Montez Fordham Hiers of Savannah, Ga; and sister, Mildred Helen Kissire of Richland, WA.

Her surviving siblings are Vera Etta Miller (Jim) of Peachtree Corners, GA; and Lonnie Lucas Hiers, Jr. “Lucky” (Carolyn) of Wesley Chapel, FL.

“Aunt Patty” is survived by nieces and nephews, Dawn Michelle Shear (Mark) of Kennewick, WA, Joseph Patrick Miller (Alessandra) of Suwanee, GA, Sara Elizabeth Miller of Scottsdale, AZ, and Lindsay Nicole Gregson and Tyler Christopher Gregson of Wesley Chapel, FL; and grand nieces and nephews, Michael Hunter Shear of Kennewick, WA, Miabella Rose Ferrara and Jackson David Miller of Suwanee, GA; she is also survived by two maternal aunts, Yvonne Fordham Plyer of Winter Haven, FL, and Sally Fordham of Lexington, KY; with numerous cousins of our extended Fordham family.

Due to present pandemic concerns memorial service plans are postponed.

Remembrance donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, American Red Cross, or your local food bank.

Pat, was a dearly beloved friend for over 30 years. We shared so much together in our experience at BCBSF and years beyond. She was present in my life defining moments as a devoted friend and confidant. She has made the world a better place and made my world better. In her humanness, she lived through life's personal struggles while remaining deeply faithful and being in service to others. I will remember Pat for her kind-heartedness; amazing love for the elderly, children, family and friends; and last but not least her humor. She was a chosen sister to me. We enjoyed many trips to St. Augustine to visit the Shrine and enjoy the shops. We cried and laughed together. I will miss her and also be comforted to know that she is in good hands. I keep getting the image in my mind of seeing her smiling and hearing her say "This is Glorious!" May she rest in peace and be in the glory of God's hands. My heartfelt prayers and thoughts go out to her family and friends.
