Emily Haynes Vinke

Emily Haynes Vinke, 70, passed away November 20, 2020, at home after a long illness. 

Emily was a native and lifelong resident of Savannah.  She was the daughter of William Pryor and Martha S. Haynes, also Savannah natives.

Her survivors are her husband of thirty years, Richard G. Vinke of Savannah; her daughter, Diane H. Jumonville (Matthew) of Ellabell, Georgia; her two grandchildren, Trinity and Michael Jumonville; her step-daughter, Robin Vinke of Savannah, Georgia; her step-son, Todd Vinke (Joyce) of Guyton, Georgia; two brothers, William P. Haynes, III (Donna) of Savannah; Edward Andrew Haynes of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sisters, Martha H. Jurgensen (Bubba) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Katharine H. Brown of Savannah.  She leaves many nieces and nephews.

Emily graduated from Savannah High School and South College with honors.

Emily worked 25 years for Chatham County.  She held the highest designation in her field Appraiser IV.  She was a member of G.A.A.O. (Georgia Association of Assessing Officers).  At the time of her retirement, she was serving as the Assistant Chief Tax Appraiser.

Emily was dedicated to her loving husband and was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She will always be remembered and loved by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2020 at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Remembrances:  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4849 Paulsen St., Suite 103, Savannah, GA 31406.
