Matthew Young, 48, of Savannah Georgia, passed away on October 30th, 2020 after a long illness.
Matthew was born on September 6th, 1972 to Lila Norris in Toledo, Ohio. Matthew moved to Savannah GA in 1985, attending Memorial Day School where he played on the football team and later St Andrew’s on the Marsh where he was the captain of the basketball team. After graduating from Saint Andrew's in 1991, he went on to study at Georgia Southern University
After graduation, he landed his first job as a salesman for Southern Motors, kicking off a long career in sales. Matthew later went on to work for Savannah Morning News and Savannah Volkswagen
Matthew wed Dina Vogel in 1994, going on to have 3 children, Laken, Laura, and Evan. Matthew was predeceased by his brother Jerry-Michael and his step-father Robert Norris. He is survived by his mother Lila Norris, brother James Young (Nashville TN) and, his children Laken Young (London UK), Laura Young and, Evan Young (Savannah GA).
A service will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 21st at Isle of Hope UMC, Internment to follow at later date in Toledo Ohio at Ottawa Hills Memorial Gardens.
I worked with Matt a few times through tout my career. He was always a great colleague and friend. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. His family has my deepest condolences. And to Matt I will see you up there when my time comes. Rest In Peace my friend.

I met Matt in high school when his mom worked for my dad in Savannah and we both lived in the same neighborhood. Matt and I had a great time playing basketball. I think the summer of '88 we were out playing hoops every day in 95 degree heat. My condolences to Lila. Our family lost Lou, Sr this year we know the pain of your loss.
