Celebrating the life of

Betty Glisson Vinall

Passed away on October 01, 2020

Betty Glisson Vinall

Betty June (Glisson) Vinall, 91, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Sunabella of Savannah.

Betty was so blessed to have the staff at Sunabella of Savannah and the wonderful nurses of Affinis Hospice take care of all her needs prior to her transition.

Some of her fondest memories included her youth spent in the Old Fort section of Savannah where she enjoyed roller skating down the hill on Bay Street and jumping the railroad tracks. She fell in love with and married an Iowa farm boy while he was in the service here during WW2.  They spent 74 years together before he passed in 2019.

They spent 56 of those years on the Isle of Hope raising their family. Longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, Betty spent many happy years with her Sunday school class and church friends.  Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed antiques, crosstitch, and gardening. Her favorite plant was a huge Staghorn Fern that she lovingly called ‘Mortimer.’ She loved to play cards with her sons and sister in law (Mildred Robbins) where there was always lots of cheating and laughter heard throughout the house.

She is survived by her three children, Jack H. Vinall Jr., (Helen), Daniel T. Vinall, (Joanne), and Bonnie Sue Nantkes of Deland, Florida. Six grandchildren, Ronnie, Ryan, Chip, Wendy, Lynn and Brannon. Eleven Great Grandchildren, Max, Sol, Reese, Mason, Maddox, Alexa, Hannah, McKenzie, Jackson, Raylee Kate, and Hudson. Two Great-great Grandchildren, Addyson and Grant and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be private. A celebration by friends and family of Betty’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of Flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Southside Baptist Church, 5502 Skidaway Road, Savannah, Ga 31406 or Affinis Hospice, 130 Canal Street, Suite 103, Pooler, Ga 31322 or The Alzheimer’s Association, 4849 Paulson Street, Suite 103, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
