Dorinda Sellers Lawrence

On Monday, August 31, 2020, the beautiful soul of Dorinda left this earth after a brief battle with lung cancer.

She was born January 21, 1961 in Savannah and lived most of her life on Talahi Island. She spent many years working for and around Candler Hospital. She loved the outdoors, especially camping, boating, and getting muddy on 4-wheelers. She had a passion for exercise and remained active even after her diagnosis. She loved kickboxing and all of her kickboxing buddies.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Harold Sellers, Mattie Francine Olliff Sellers, and brother, Ricky D. Sellers.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Tony; sons, Tristan and Taylor; brother, Russell Sellers (Charlotte Lord); sister, Donna Galletta (Steve) and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Due to COVID-19, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020 in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery. Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Second Harvest of Savannah, Low Country Down Syndrome Society, Old Savannah Mission or any other local charities.

GUEST BOOK

Taylor and family, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and so, so sad to see this news. Your mom and dad were always my favorite people to see in the mornings at Tradewinds as they came for their medium coffees. Your mom took such an interest in people and was sweet to everyone she spoke to. She would always spend a bit of time by the counter asking me about my morning or school which always made my day. I would love to give you the hard copies of the pictures of your mom that I sent you via Facebook messenger only a few weeks ago and will find a way to do so in the coming weeks. I am truly so sorry and will keep you all in my thoughts. I hope that the happy memories with her will far outweigh the sadness in the coming months. Sending love your way.

So sorry for your loss Tony. I knew Dorinda years ago. A group of candler employees would all meet with her after work and have drinks. We had beach trips and all had a blast. We had such a great time and I will miss her.

Our deep condolences to you guys from the bottom of our hearts. Dorinda was incredibly welcoming when I first met Taylor. I can still remember the day we first moved to Athens and she was helping us with the room. She was the life of the party at our wedding and had a fun-loving spirit. While I am devastated at the news, I am glad I got to share experiences with Dorinda and the family, build bonds with her son Taylor, and remember her as an outstanding mother.

Tony, Taylor and Tristan, Dorinda was such a wonderful person. Her heart was so full of love for her family, and she genuinely cared for others. She helped me out in a pinch more than a handful of times. I'll admit, I think she liked my dog Maggie more than me:) She loved camping, good lattes in the afternoon, and sharing stories about the journeys her sons were embarking on. And, she always smiled when she was talking about Tony. I am so very sorry, and my family sends its deepest sympathies.
