Robert James Lane III “Bobby” 74 died Friday, July 10, 2020 at his residence.

Bobby was born in Charleston, South Carolina on May 9, 1946. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.  He joined the Air Force at 17 years old and had to wait until he turned 18 to be deployed to Viet Nam.  After his military service he worked at Savannah Sugar Refinery as a Lab Technician until his retirement. 

Bobby was loved by his family and friends.    He had a heart of gold and was known by everyone who knew him as a “good man”.  He was a loving father, Grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all.

Survivors his sons Shawn Michael Lane and Robert James Lane IV, daughter Sherry Lane, sisters Terry Rush and Tina Hardy, brother Steve Lane, Grand Children Sha’Niya Lane, and 3 others, 3 Great Grandchildren and his beloved dogs Sugar, Coco and Little Bit.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home on Wilmington Island.  Viewing will be held from 12-1 followed by services in the Chapel.  A Military burial will be held at Greenwich Cemetery.
