Celebrating the life of

Ann Smith Wynne

June 25, 1926 - August 22, 2018

Ann Smith Wynne

Maude Ann Smith Wynne, 92, passed away on early Wednesday morning in Savannah, Georgia.
Born on June 25, 1926 in Ludowici, Georgia to parents Maude and Charles Smith, Ann was the eldest to two younger sisters: Elizabeth "Liz" Smith Jordan and Caroline Smith Parrish. Ann and her sisters were raised in Metter, Georgia by their mother, a remarkably capable woman who ran the Wayside Inn boarding house after being widowed.
Ann—equally as intelligent and determined—attended Georgia Southern University then became a librarian and school teacher. She spent most of her career at White Bluff Elementary School in Savannah, Georgia. Ann married her husband Jack Wynne in 1957, and they raised two children—Jack "Jay" Wynne and Susan Wynne Bowen—on Isle of Hope. Ann was a devoted member of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church and an avid volunteer in the community. She was passionate about spending time with her family and friends, birdwatching, Southern cooking and desserts, reading, and taking care of her cats.
Ann was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, her two children, her sisters, her nephew Rick Jordan, and her niece Lisa Parrish Gantt. She is survived by her grandson Jack Bowen, son-in-law Charles Bowen, nieces Carol Jordan and Laura Parrish Lightle (and her husband, Brian Lightle), nephew Charlie Jordan (and his wife Chris Jordan), Rick's wife Cathy Jordan, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.
Guests will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 24th at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel (7200 Hodgson Memorial Dr). There will be a graveside funeral service on Saturday, August 25th at 11:00 am in The Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery (330 Greenwich Rd).
Remembrances can be made in Ann's honor to Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia (https://komencoastalgeorgia.org/make-a-donation), Meals on Wheels (http://www.seniorcitizensinc.org/give), or the Humane Society for Greater Savannah (https://www.humanesocietysav.org/make-a-donation).
