Celebrating the life of
Joseph Anthony "Tony" Battle, III
January 05, 1941 - May 26, 2020
Joseph Anthony “Tony” Battle III, 79
Joseph Anthony Battle, died peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family, after a short battle with cancer on May 26, 2020.
Tony was born January 5, 1941 in Savannah, GA to Katherine Edna Findley and Joseph Anthony Battle Jr. He graduated from Benedictine Military School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.
He worked in human resources, spending many years with Darden Restaurant Group. But his greatest accomplishment was his family; as evidenced by his 56-year marriage to the love of his life Linda Battle and his three wonderful sons and their families. Tony loved to read, enjoyed talking about politics and had a wide variety of interests including photography.
He is survived by his wife Linda; two sons Michael (Dawn) and Patrick (Cheryl), daughter-in-law Dena, four grandchildren, Savannah, Katherine, Dylan and Josephine.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Battle, his son Christopher Battle, and grandson Josh Williams.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a small graveside service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Cancer Research Alliance or to Hospice of Savannah.

Tony is and was a good friend to Jon and I. We have had many, many amazing and fun times with Linda and Tony. I loved Tony’s voice. Being from Georgia, Tony had that deep, sweet, beautiful southern draw. Tony was a man with great wisdom and advice, and he was also such an adventurous person. Jon and Frank took Tony with them on a hike through the mountains that seemed to last forever. When they came home Linda said “you boys almost killed my husband!” Tony hung in there! Not giving up cause that is the type of man he is. Linda and Tony are a special and rare kinda people. They are the type of people that always make you feel welcome and included. I am speaking present tense because I know Tony is just sleeping as we all be waiting for Jesus to return. Rest well Tony. We will see you again. Love Angie, Jon and Kat.
