Celebrating the life of
Janice Leyburn Erb
February 07, 1927 - August 21, 2018
Loving & Devoted Mother. Talented and Accomplished Artist
Janice Leyburn Erb, our beautiful, talented, and devoted Mom, has passed away. She was 91.
Mom lived in Savannah, Georgia, along with Lee Erb, loving husband of 71 years. Ten years ago, they moved from their Cape Cod home to warmer weather and a residence closer to family. They fully enjoyed their independent life at Savannah Square Senior Living Community, their back patio surrounded by flowers, socializing with friends, playing bridge on-line, and frequent visits from family. For mom, every evening ended with Jeopardy, a glass of white wine, a chocolate, and her current book.
Born in Philadelphia, Mom grew up in Havertown, and graduated from Haverford High School, Class of 1945. She attended Drexel Institute, and studied art. After marriage, a move to Indiana and Ohio finally lead to a long and wonderful life in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, and Cape Cod. She was first and foremost a happy person, casting sunshine and optimism into the world around her. She made people feel good. It was this positive vision of life that was her biggest gift to her children.
Along with raising three daughters, she was forever an artist. Her favorite genre was landscape painting in the style of the impressionists. Her oil on canvas renderings of Cape houses, with roses tumbling over fences, brought her recognition and awards. Ultimately, she joined the Board of the Cape Cod Art Association, and held the position of President for many years. She was a leader.
As she passes from this life, her family will miss her strength, her devotion, and her constant love. She was alive until the moment she passed, directing Lee to take his pills and sharing her love. She died very peacefully following a fall in her home; she felt no pain. Besides her husband, she leaves daughters Donna Erb Gross (Richard) of Michigan, Cynthia Erb Price of Mexico, and Nancy Erb Cloutier (Carl) of Vermont, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Robert Leyburn (Annamae and family), of Asbury, N.J. In closing, we thank the people at Savannah Square for the dedication and love they have given our parents. Their gentle guidance has and will continue to help us all as we go forward.
Offering our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Erb family for the loss of your dear loved one at this most difficult time, John 5:28,29.
