Celebrating the life of

Kaethe Adelheid Wenz

April 10, 1920 - March 18, 2020

Kaethe Adelheid Wenz

Adelheid (Heidi) Wenz of Savannah passed away at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

Heidi was born April 10, 1920 in Coburg, Germany to Martha (Schneider) Huebner and Carl Huebner.  The family lived in Berneck, Bavaria, Germany until moving to New York City in 1931, where she grew up with her mother and step-father, Edward Biehn, and step-sister, Mildred Biehn.  She graduated from James Monroe High School in the Bronx in 1938.

Heidi is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore J Wenz, whom she married in 1942. They spent many happy years in Yonkers, New York and that is where Heidi began work in 1953 at the Yonkers Public Library.  In 1960 she became Secretary to the Library Director and remained so until her retirement in 1985.  She moved to Savannah in 2011 to be closer to her family.  She is survived by her son, Theodore J Wenz Jr. and his wife Lori of Townsend, GA;.  and many dearly loved cousins, nieces, and nephews, both here and in Canada, Australia, and Germany.

Heidi loved to go flying with her son, traveling, gardening, and the Opera, but most of all she loved being with family.  She will be remembered with great fondness by her many friends.

The family suggests any remembrances be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Greater Savannah.

She was such a sweet lady, so sad to hear this!

- Januel - A former Housekeeper, Savannah, GA

We are cousins of Heidi's good friends, Helen and Amy Weber. We also enjoyed our visits with Heidi. She was a dear, gentle and positive spirit. And she made the best cookies.
