Celebrating the life of

Patricia Ann Gunderson

October 21, 1936 - March 03, 2020

Patricia Ann Gunderson

SAVANNAH - PATRICIA GUNDERSON, age 83, died peacefully under the care of Hospice Savannah after battling Alzheimer's Disease for over two decades.  She was born October 21, 1936 in Elgin, IL where she lived until she and her husband, Alfred Gunderson, retired and moved to Fort Myers, FL.  She moved to Savannah in 2012 to be closer to family.

She graduated from St. Edward High School in 1954 and went on to earn her Associate's Degree from Elgin Community College.  She met her husband in the college library when he jokingly scolded her for not returning her library books on time.  After she married, she taught 5th grade at St. Lawrence Elementary school.  She took time to raise four children and then returned to work as an elementary school librarian.  She enjoyed reading books and hosting parties.  She was an Irish Catholic who did not miss Sunday mass.  She volunteered as a eucharistic minister at church and to the sick at the local hospital, as well as, being active in her children's school.

Surviving are her daughters; Laurie Williams of Elgin, IL, Marcy LeFevre of Centerton, AR, Trisha Dibkey of Savannah, GA, her son, Kurt Gunderson of Clearwater, FL, seven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  The family suggests any remembrances be made in her memory to Hospice Savannah or the Alzheimer's Association.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2020 at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel, with burial to follow in the Catholic Cemetery.
