Celebrating the life of

Marigail R. Brackeen

November 17, 1936 - February 03, 2020

Marigail R. Brackeen

MARIGAIL ROTHWELL BRACKEEN Savannah/Tybee Island, GA, 83 died February 3, 2020 at home on Tybee Island. She was born November 17, 1936 in Norfolk, VA, to the late Hugh and Lillian Rothwell.  She lived in MS, NM, AZ, CA and MO before retiring in Savannah. She earned a bachelors degree in Art History from the University of Arizona and an associates degree in computer programming from the University of Missouri St. Louis. She sold residential and commercial real estate and used her data analyst skills to solve Y2K issues. Throughout her adult years she was active in the League of Women Voters, Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her thumb was always a deep shade of green. She was an avid flea market and yard sale hound, superb amateur interior designer, family genealogist, voracious reader and reluctant smart phone user. She had not been without at least one Jack Russell Terrier for over 30 years. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen Brackeen-Putnam and Perry Putnam, of Saint Louis, MO, her daughter Katherine Brackeen, of Tybee Island, her brother-in-law Ned Yelverton, of Seabrook, TX, her sister-in-law, Martha Bolton Brackeen, of Muscle Shoals, AL, three nephews, two nieces and innumerable Rothwell, Slusser, and Kershner cousins. Interment will be in a Rothwell plot at Laurel Grove Cemetery beside her loving husband of 57 years, Travis Wilburn Brackeen. The family suggests any remembrances be made in her memory to the DAR, UDC or your local genealogy society.
