Anna Cone Seyle

Anna Cone Seyle, 94, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2020.  Born on October 1, 1925 in Statesboro, Georgia, she was the daughter of Howell Cobb Cone and Katharine Parker Cone and was the last born of seven children.  The family relocated to Savannah in 1933 when her father was appointed Collector of Customs by President Franklin Roosevelt

Anna was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Charles Winchester Seyle, Sr.; brothers, Howell Cobb Cone, Jr., William Cone, Thomas Cone, and sisters, Sarah Katharine Bowen, Constance Cone and Frances Lambright.

She attended Armstrong Junior College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in English.  Anna retired after many years of employment with the Savannah Speech and Hearing Center.  She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Savannah, Georgia.

Anna was known for her kindness and wonderful wit.  She loved literature and music and enjoyed attending Savannah Symphony Orchestra concerts for many years.  Her grandchildren have many happy memories of their Tybee vacations with their Nana Anna.  She taught them how to build drip castles, introduced them to boiled peanuts and amazed them with her Jeopardy knowledge.

Anna is survived by her son, Charles W. (Stacy) Seyle, Jr., daughter, Laura (Richard) Gross, grandsons, Thomson (Brittany) Gross, Wilson Gross and Jacob Seyle, granddaughter, Emmaline Anna Gross, two great grandsons, Jonah Gross and Rowan Gross and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to First Baptist Church of Savannah, P.O. Box 9551, Savannah, GA 31412-9551 and Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
