Samuel W. Pilgrim, Jr.
Savannah – Samuel W. Pilgrim, Jr., age 84, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The South Carolina native had lived in Savannah for the past forty years. The career aviator retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the United States Navy, having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Conflict. After retiring from the United States Navy, he worked as a test pilot for a number of years with Gulfstream Aerospace. He was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Polly Pilgrim of Savannah; two sons, Samuel W. Pilgrim, III and David C. Pilgrim, both of Savannah; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at White Bluff United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Moseley officiating.
