Bobbie Joann Massey Russell, 74, died suddenly Sunday evening, May 28, 2006 at her residence at Summer Breeze on Wilmington Island.
Born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Charlie and Pauline Thornton Massey, she grew up in Luthersville, Georgia. In 1950, she married the love of her life, William Turner Russell, known to all as Pete Russell, who died in 2001. They spent most of their married lives in Carrollton, Georgia until Pete retired from West Georgia College and they moved to Savannah to spend their retirement. Bobbie was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and loving wife. Wile living in Carrollton, she was a member of the Carrollton Presbyterian Church for nearly thirty years. In addition to her husband Pete, Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Pauline Thornton Massey; her brothers, Mark, C.J. and Fred Massey; sisters, Virginia Massey Cadenhead and Mildred Massey Brown; and nephews Charles Euel Brown and Thomas Larry Britt.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Debbie Russell Mobley and son-in-law, Dr. Michael Mobley of Savannah; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Marie Mobley and Susan Colleen Mobley both of Augusta, GA; one brother, Edward Calvin Massey Marie of LaGrange, GA; one sister, Pauline Massey Britt of Luthersville, GA; sister-in-law, Helen Massey and nephew, Fred Massey, Jr. Diane all of Lone Oak, GA; nephews, Eddie Massey of LaGrange and David Massey of Atlanta; nieces, Shirley Massey Freeman Larry of LaGrange, Montine Wilson of Fernandina Beach, FL, Ellen Britt and Carol Brizzi of Newnan, GA, Mollie Britt Trammell Charles of Luthersville, Angela Massey Booth Todd of Atlanta, Nancy Fincher Torbett J.R. of Lithia Springs, GA; as well as many great nieces and great nephews and a very special friend, Eliza Green Wilder of Savannah.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the White Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Moreland, Georgia.
Remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
