Gertrude Lucken Demopoulos

Gertrude Lucken Demopoulos, 82, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was the daughter of German Immigrants, Willi and Meta Lucken, and wife to Ralph Athas Demopoulos, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Lucken O'Connell and a brother, Billie Lucken. Mrs. Demopoulos was a graduate of Savannah High School, Class of 1941 and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Armstrong State College Nursing Program. She worked in the operating room at Telfair Hospital for Women and later at Candler General Hospital where she retired in 1993. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie Demopoulos and Ernest D. Sims and Tina Demopoulos and David N. Williams; two grandchildren, Ralph Demopoulos Sims and Ethan Duncan Sims; a niece and her husband, Terry O'Connell and William E. Charles; her best friend, Lucille Tinker; and two other nieces, Holly Lucken Whitehead and Kelly Lucken and a nephew William O'Connell.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Remembrances may be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church.
