Bill Murphy
Bill Murphy, age 84, died Thursday, June 26, 2006, at his home. He was a native of Oberlin, Kansas and a longtime resident of Savannah. Mr. Murphy retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Marine Corps. After his retirement he began a second career as a hairdresser and along with his wife operated Bill & Virginia. He was a member and former Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church and a member of Zerubbabel Lodge # 15, F&AM, and the Scottish Rite Bodies.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Murphy, of Savannah; four daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Al Humensky of San Antonia, TX, Lou Georgette and Frank Palermo of Ocala, FL, Mary and Pete Davis of Morehead City, NC and Marshia Ann and Roy Sontag of New Bern, NC; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherri Sikes, and his brother, John R. Murphy.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Wednesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside service: 10:00 am on Thursday, June 29, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Larry Williams officiating.
