Albert Wylly Hughes, Sr.
July 16, 1911 - July 23, 2006
Albert Wylly Hughes, Sr., 95, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Thunderbolt, GA on July 16, 1911 and was raised at Bethesda Home for Boys. He retired from the Savannah Fire Department in 1973 after many years of service, many of which were as a trainer. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Albert Wylly Hughes, Jr. and daughter, Catherine Hughes.
Surviving are his wife, Jean W. Hughes, of Savannah, two daughters, Carolyn Anderson, of Savannah, and Shirley Warren, of Varnville, SC. He is also survived by three sons, William W. Hughes, of Savannah, Clifton A. Hughes, of Houston, Texas, and Harry W. Hughes, of Bloomingdale. Also several step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one niece and one nephew.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery.
