Edna Mae Edwards, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away at Savannah Square Retirement Community on Friday, August 4, 2006. Edna was born February 7, 1928 in Watkinsville, GA to John Edwin and Mattie Marshall. She met and married a young soldier Novis Clark Edwards, her surviving husband of sixty years. The couple made their home in Savannah, GA.
Edna was a devoted mother and loving example of compassion. She lived her life with integrity and grace, and she died with courage. She was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church and retired from the Chatham County Health Department after serving for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star organization.
Edna is survived by her husband, Novis Clark Edwards of Savannah, GA; sons Clark Edwin and wife Carol of Lake Placid, Florida and Thomas Daniel and wife Shirley of Savannah, GA; daughters, Elizabeth Edwards Thomas and husband Richard of Savannah, GA and Janet Edwards Rasmovich and husband Thomas of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren Jeffrey Rasmovich and wife Holly, Jennifer Rasmovich Oxford and husband Derek and Allison Thomas Gerber and husband Joel all of Atlanta, GA, Natalie Thomas Sauers and husband Stephen and Shannon Edwards all of Savannah, GA and Shaun Clark Edwards of Nashville, TN; three great grandchildren, Davis Marshall Gerber, Helen Carson Gerber, and Connor Anthony Rasmovich all of Atlanta, GA; brother, Thomas Edward Marshall and wife Mary Alice of Richmond Hill, GA and sister, Linda Mary Marshall Patton and husband Bill of Franklin, TN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 8, 2006 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Billy Patton officiating.
