George Washington Adams, Jr.
October 13, 1930 - August 30, 2006
Savannah- George Washington Adams, Jr., 75, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2006.
He was a retired Sergeant Major with twenty-eight years in the United States Army and United States Marine Corps. He served two combat tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys Adams.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years Margarete Adams of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Linda J. and Robert D. Carter of Enterprise, Alabama; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven J. and Michele Adams of Jacksonville, Florida and Raymond J. and Shannon Adams, Sr. of Savannah; grandchildren, Michael Carter and Brian Carter of Enterprise, Alabama, Michelle Adams of Jacksonville, Florida, Christine Adams, Megan Harrod and Raymond Adams, Jr. of Savannah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe R. Adams, James T. and Mary Adams, Donald D. and Carrie Adams and Lester S. and Gloria Adams all of Savannah; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty J. Beauchance of Bloomingdale, Georgia and Shirley L. and Richard Bielat of New Baltimore, Michigan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park West with full military honors
