Martha Cooper “Betty” Hubbard, age 77, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Atlanta. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Mrs. Hubbard retired from Levy’s Department Store as a bookkeeper and was a member of the Navy League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Henry Hubbard.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Rick Root, and her two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alex Root, all of Atlanta.
A Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2006 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2006, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with The Very Reverend William Willoughby III officiating. The family will receive friends at the church before departing for a private burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1802 Abercorn St., Savannah, GA 31401.
