Vernice Cowart Collins, 89, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Odyssey Hospice. She was a native of Cobbtown, Georgia and a homemaker. She was the widow of William Penn Collins, Sr. and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Penn Collins, Sr., four brothers, Rob, Cookie, Jim, and Ethon Cowart, sister, Robie Tyler and one granddaughter, Toni C. Harper.
She is survived by one son, William P. “Billy” Collins, Jr., of Savannah, one daughter, Ronnell Redditt, of Jacksonville, Florida, two sister, Betty Fields and Bootsie Duke, both of Savannah, three granddaughters, Terri Mooney, Tracey Collins, and Linda Lambert, all of Georgetown, SC, five great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
