Novis Clark Edwards our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at Candler Hospital Tuesday night, October 10, 2006. Novis was born October 15, 1923 in Westminster, South Carolina to Robert Lee Edwards and Ada Thomas. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Edna Mae Marshall Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a veteran of World War II. He received a Purple Heart for his service while protecting his country. He had over twenty years of service with the Colonial Store. He opened the first Piggly Wiggly in Savannah, Georgia, and was operator of the Piggly Wiggly on Victory Drive where he retired after twenty years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Acacia Lodge number 452. He was also a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his sons, Clark Edwin and wife Carol, of Lake Placid, FL and Thomas Daniel and wife Shirley of Statesboro, GA, daughters, Janet Edwards Rasmovich and husband, Thomas, of Atlanta, GA, and Elizabeth Edwards Thomas and husband, Richard, of Savannah, GA, six grandchildren, Jeffrey Rasmovich and wife Holly, Jennifer Rasmovich Oxford and husband Derek, and Allison Thomas Gerber and husband, Joel, all of Atlanta, GA, Natalie Thomas Sauers and husband, Stephen, of Savannah, GA. Shaun Clark Edwards of Nashville, TN and Shannon Edwards, of Statesboro, GA, three great-grandchildren, Davis Marshall Gerber, Helen Carson Gerber, and Connor Anthony Rasmovich, all of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Sybill and Bob Edwards, and Linda and Jerry Edwards, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Bill Dillard, Sue and James Fowler, and sisters, Rosa Lee Harvey and Frances Cheek, all of Spartanburg, South Carolina, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Lucy Cromwell who was Mr. Edwards’ loving caregiver and devoted friend.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with the Rev. Billy Patton, officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Marshall, Joel Gerber, Stephen Sauers, Shaun Edwards, Jeffrey Rasmovich, Perry Buice, and Pat Buice.

Burial will be Private.

Remembrances may be made to Spanish Oaks Hospice, 8510 Whitfield Ave, Savannah, GA 31406.
