Mary C. Diamond Bowdle, 83, died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Savannah Square Retirement Community.
Mrs. Bowdle was a native of Hurlock, Maryland and had lived in Savannah since 1945. She received a nursing degree from Armstrong College and later retired from Candler Hospital after many years of service as a registered nurse. Mrs. Bowdle loved golfing, crabbing, and fishing and was a long time member of Savannah Golf Club. She was past president of the Savannah Women’s Golf Association and spent countless hours volunteering at Hospice Savannah and the Ronald McDonald House. She was a member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Diamond.
She is survived by her husband, Edward C. Bowdle of Savannah; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Miriam L. Diamond of Savannah; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia L. and William “Buttons” Jordan of Savannah; four grandchildren, Robert Jordan, Scotty Jordan, Robert Diamond, and Margaret Diamond; one brother; two sisters; and a numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 Monday, January 1, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
