Helen McQuillan Clanton, 79 died Monday, January 1, 2007 at her residence. The Savannah native was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and was a 1945 graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel Charles C. Clanton, Jr Retired USAF.

She is survived by her son, Charles C. Clanton, III, of Savannah, son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Marcia Clanton, of Savannah, daughter and son-in-law, Lynn C. and Larry Palmer, of Savannah. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer Lucille Clanton, Charles C. Clanton, IV, Lawrence J. “Bubba” Palmer, Jr. and his wife Robyn D. Palmer, Christopher Michael Palmer, Casey Elizabeth Clanton, and Elizabeth Grace Clanton. One great-granddaughter, Carson Nora Palmer and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2007 with a Christian Wake service at 5:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Friday January 5, 2007 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with The Rev. Patrick O’Brien, celebrant.

Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be sent to St. Vincent’s Academy.
