Stephen Russell Barton, 49, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at home.
He was born in Bermuda on September 9, 1957. After moving to Savannah at age six he was educated in the Savannah/Chatham County Public Schools. Stephen later worked for Occidental Oil Company in Savannah and in Houston, TX. He also worked as a computer operator for ZUD Resources Inc. He was preceded in death by his father, Cardell F. Barton, Jr. and his nephew, John Ayala.
Survivors include his mother, Edith M. Barton of Savannah; one son, Taylor Matthew Barton of League City, TX; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael W. and Barbara Barton of Nashville, TN; one sister, Sheila Barton Ayala of Savannah; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park West on Dean Forest Road.

What a shock. We spent soooo many nights at Steve's little apartment at his house. Last talked to him a couple years ago. He was living in Texas and working in SC. What a great guy. We will miss him.
