DOROTHY STERNE HENDRY

Dorothy Sterne Hendry 90, died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Candler Hospital. She was born in Greensboro, North Carolina living most of her life in Savannah. She was a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church and currently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hendry was a member of the Alee Patrol Unit Auxiliary, the Wednesday Morning Reading Club, Christian Women’s Club, Savannah Woman’s Club and various garden clubs including the Mayfair Garden Club and the Fragrance Garden for the Blind in Forsyth Park. Mrs. Hendry was one of the first student’s to enroll at Armstrong Junior College in 1935.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Hendry.
Surviving are, daughters and sons in law, Gail and Jack Brown of Savannah, Kay and Charles Allen of Marietta, daughter, Eleanor Gaither of Savannah, daughter, Carol Hendry of Savannah, grandchildren, Anthony Jack Brown and wife Helen, Kristin Gail Brown both of Savannah, Jennifer Lauren Gaither of Midway, great grandchildren, Owen O’Neil Brown of Savannah and Hunter Kyle Clark of Midway.
Visitation will be Monday, January 8, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
Remembrances to Trinity United Methodist Church, 223 West President Street, Savannah Georgia 31401.
