MARJORY HEYWARD MINGLEDORFF
Marjory Heyward Mingledorff, 88, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Hospice Savannah. She was a decendant of Thomas Heyward, Jr., signer of the Declaration of Independence for the state of South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Major George Cuthbert Heyward Jr. and Alice Hunter Heyward. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennslyvania and was raised in Savannah and Bluffton. Marjory was a 1936 graduate of Pape School. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, its Chancel Society, and was past Curator of the Green-Meldrim House. She was also a former member of the Junior League, a past two term president of the Colonial Dames in the state of Georgia, a member of the Married Women’s Club, and had served on the Board of Directors for Bethesda’s Home for Boys.
She was preceded in death by her youngest child, George Heyward Mingledorff and her former husband and father of her four children, Ralston Everett Mingledorff.
Surviving are, her daughter, Elizabeth Percival Mingledorff of Bluffton, SC, her daughter, Anne Heyward Mingledorff of Savannah, her son, Ralston Everett Mingledorff, Jr. of Aspen, CO, a brother, Allan McAlpin Heyward of Richmond, VA, her grandchildren, Cameron Bliss Ferrelle of Winterville, GA, Lewis Craighill Bliss Jr. of Newport, RI, George Heyward Mingledorff of Savannah, Ralston McAlpin Mingledorff of Savannah, Colton Everett Mingledorff of Aspen CO, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2007 at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Family and friends are invited to the scattering of the ashes and a reception immediately following the service at the family home in Bluffton.
