Her keen interest in current events and in people fueled a lifetime of making friends of all ages, many of whom she met through her reporting, world-wide travels, and her devoted support of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia.

Married to the late John Eugene Marshall, she is survived by their seven children: John Eugene and wife Nan of Savannah; Murray Stewart and wife Helen of Savannah; Ruth Ann and husband Malcolm Bell III of Charlottesville, Cabell Josephine and husband Tom Romer of Charlottesville, Harriet Elizabeth and husband Ray Vane of Macon, Ann Gibson and husband Vince Bailey of Atlanta, and Mollie Meredith and husband Dr. Billy Lennarz of both Virginia and Portland, Oregon.

She was admired and adored by her grandchildren: Andrew and Anna Marshall; Stewart, Joseph and wife Robin, and James Marshall, and Margaret Bishop; Raphael and Margaret Bell; John Marshall, and Paul and Robert Romer; Blair, Catherine and Alexander Vane; MacGregor and Marshall Bailey; MacGregor, Joseph, Meredith and Julia Lennarz. She is also survived by great-grandchildren and by her beloved cousins Charles Waring and Elizabeth Barrow.
