Tybee Island - Carole Anne Smith Immel, 70, died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She was a native of Trenton, New Jersey and taught Health and Physical Education in the Trenton and Mount Holly public schools until she became a loving wife and mother of three children. A lifelong Episcopalian, she was a very active member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church since she and her husband retired to Tybee Island.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, The Rev. Otto W. Immel, Sr., of Tybee Island, two sons and daughters-in-law, Otto W. and Jennifer Immel, of Naples, Florida, and William A. and Jennifer Immel, of Wilmington Island, one daughter and son-in-law, Loretta L. and Bret Eckhardt, of Savannah. She also is survived by two grandsons, William and Rex Immel, both of Wilmington Island.
Visitation for Mrs. Immel will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Requiem Eucharist will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2007 at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 804 Jones Avenue, Tybee Island.
Burial will be in the church memorial garden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be sent to All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 727 Tybee Island, Georgia 31328.
