Joseph Francis Griffin, Jr., 86 died Thursday, March 1, 2007 after a short illness at Azalealand Nursing Home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
A native Savannahian, he was a graduate of Benedictine Military School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired commercial real estate appraiser. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Spellman Griffin, and is survived by his three children, Dr. Joseph Francis Griffin, III of Atlanta, Brian Patrick Griffin Sandy and Jane Griffin Mullino John of Savannah, and by his three grandchildren, Suzannah Cate Griffin, Brian Patrick Griffin, Jr., and Georgia Frances Griffin. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2007 with a Rosary service at 5:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2007 in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
