June 05, 1921 - March 01, 2007

Alec Glen

Alec Glen

Alec Glen, born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England on June 6, 1921 succumbed to a short illness Thursday March 1, 2007.

In 1942, Alec graduated from McGill University Mechanical Engineering at the tender age of 21 and, subsequently, served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean theaters.

Alec led a distinguished 40-year career in the pulp and paper mill industry, retiring in 1987, as President of Scott Maritimes Canada. Alec and Kathy enjoyed many happy years at the Landings in Savannah, Georgia participating in golf, tennis, bridge and, most recently, our Dad, in water aerobics. Alec had a benevolent spirit and served as a First Responder and tutor of the illiterate for many years. He was a quiet, unassuming man of honor and integrity who possessed a deep love of family, most recently exemplified by his unwavering devotion to Kathy during her last difficult years. All that knew him will miss him dearly.

Pre-deceased by his loving wife, Kathy, of 58 years, he is survived by children John Thomas Glen and his wife Pamela of Toronto, Ontario; Gary Alec Glen and his wife Shari of Brunswick, Georgia; Peggy Ranger and her husband Luc of Montreal, Quebec and Penny Glen of Montreal, Quebec; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

We celebrate your life and are so proud to call you our Dad… our Poopy.

A special thanks to the residents and staff of the Marshes of Skidaway for making his last years so enjoyable.

A memorial service will be held in Montreal, Quebec

Remembrances: Hospice Savannah Inc. PO Box 13190 Savannah, Georgia 31416.

GUEST BOOK

Alec was a wonderful person and I played tennis with him several time a week for over 10 year. He was very proud of his children and looked forward to their visits. Don't feel bad gentelmen, but I heard much more about the girls who he love dearly. Almost a much as he did Kathy. You had a wonderful dad.
