Celebrating the life of
Amy Fuller
January 23, 1978 - March 05, 2007
Amy M. Fuller of Atlanta, GA, age 29, died on Monday, March 5, 2007. She was born in Savannah, GA on January 23, 1978.
Amy graduated in 1996 from Richmond Hill High School, where she earned the honor of STAR student highest SAT scores, as well as several scholarships. She went on to graduate Cum Laude, With Honors from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in psychology and a focus in animal behavior.
Since childhood, Amy possessed a bright personality, a host of devoted friends, and a diverse range of interests. Acting and outdoor activities were two lasting favorites. Her passion for foreign cultures led her everywhere from Mexico to Bermuda to Belize, and she even backpacked continental Europe after working abroad for six months in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Amy's defining lifelong love of animals began with a childhood passion for pets of all kinds, and ultimately initiated an exotic and admirable career path devoted to studying, protecting, and educating people about wildlife. She was a member of numerous animal and environmental organizations, and she always researched brands to avoid those that test on animals. Less than 10 years after graduating college, she had worked with the UGA Primate Cognition Lab, Bull River Cruises dolphin tours, the Caretta Research Project for sea turtle conservation, SeaWorld Florida, the Dolphin Research Center, the New York Aquarium, the Bronx Zoo, and Zoo Atlanta, where she was employed as Education Animal Supervisor at the time of her death. She also recently earned SCUBA certification in pursuit of her dream of hands-on work with marine mammals. Her fascination with and compassion for all living things, combined with her intelligence, dedication, and endearing character, made her a true asset to wildlife education that will be sorely missed. Likewise, the laughter, wonder, joy, and unconditional love she gave and inspired in everyone around her were blessings that can never be replaced or forgotten.
Amy is survived by her father, Earle Fuller; her mother, Barbara Fuller; her sister, Robin Fuller; her grandmothers, Margaret Fuller and Amy Hunter; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a menagerie of pets, including her cherished cat, Limousine, and about 150 assorted reptiles.
The funeral service will take place Saturday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church 225 W President St, Savannah, GA 31401, 912-233-4766. A procession to Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park will follow 1600 Wheaton St, Savannah, GA 31404.
Donations in Amy's honor may be made to the Zoo Atlanta education department c/o Cliff Martin, 404-624-5831; the Dolphin Research Center www.dolphins.org or 305-289-1121; and the Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund www.vitascharityfund.org.
I remember Amy so vividly from her year in my eighth grade English class. Even at that young age Amy was well on her way to becoming the wonderful young woman she was. The sadness of losing someone with such promise is beyond words.

My family and I have been blessed with the friendship of Amy's grandmother, Margie. We grieve with her and for her during this difficult time. May the love and caring of friends help Margie and her family through this time of sorrow.

I met Amy while attending Richmond Hill High during my freshman and sophomore years. She was the brightest, sweetest person you could ever meet. There was always a joyful aura around her. I am so sorry for your loss. Her obituary was absolutely beautiful and her life so inspiring to me. I will keep your family in my prayers.
- Jennifer Cobb Corretjer, Savannah, GA
Saying I remember Anna well is not saying enough in my heart. We went to high school together in Richmond Hill. Naturally, the first thing you noticed about Anna was her beautifully, vibrant red hair. I always wondered how someone so petite was able to carry such an armload of books into the classroom. Anna's smile was only surpassed by her unique laugh. She had the cutest and quirkiest laugh I had ever heard. Anna was not only a brilliant woman; she was also a beautiful, kind woman who possessed a sharp wit. I knew she would go far in life and she did, she really did. Saying Anna will be missed feels hollow, as if I'm not saying enough to encompass the love which surrounded such a beautiful person. May God bless her as well as those who will miss her.

To the Fuller family: Amy and I worked together very closely at Zoo Atlanta. We were the only ones in our orientation class and scared Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child with a millipede among our other pranks. I loved her wit, she was a wonderful person and I will truly miss her. I am sorry for your loss and will keep your family lifted in my prayers. God bless you all.
- Jacqueline Petty, Atlanta, GA
I am a volunteer at ZooAtlanta and I always enjoyed going to the Zoo and finding Amy at morning update. She always had a smile on her face. She made my experience even better. The last time I saw her we were admiring our new baby panda, she was laughing at her antics. I will never forget that wonderful laugh and smile. I will keep you in my prays at this time.
- Leslie Martin, Lawrenceville, GA
This is an unspeakable loss and all of her family and loved ones are in my thoughts. I have wonderful memories of Amy and I growing up together in Richmond Hill. She had one of the most beautful and caring personalities of anyone I will ever know.

It saddened me today to get the message about Amy's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to Amy's family and friends! From the picture, it looks as though Amy was as happy now as I remember her being back in the 6th grade at Memorial Day School. Amy was a loving and joyful person. I will always remember her smiling and just listening and having so few cares in this world. Amy leaves us with many happy memories! I will keep her family and closest friends in my thoughts and prayers as you all deal with the loss of such a great person.

Amy was such a caring and loving person. Last I saw her, she took myself, my 3 kids and my brother Charlie to her work place at the Zoo. She was so into her work and was great with my kids. She pulled them reptiles out the cages and handled them with love as mother's do with their children. I remember her hanging out with Charlie, Brian And Mike. Amy will be missed and I will keep her family and close friends in my thoughts and prayers. Amy was such a wonderful person, she will be greatly missed. God Bless
- Stephanie Hardy, Richmond Hill, GA
Sweet, Dear Amy shall be missed by all. Her beauty was not only on the outside, but also on the inside. She was LOVED by all who had any contact with her, especially the group she became so important to. Charlie, Mike and Bryan, as well as all others who knew her have a deep scar on their hearts. Amy became as important in my life as she was in the family from school that grew up with her. When there was one, there was always the others. They all came to the house together. Precious Amy had the personality of an ANGEL and has recieved her wings prematurly. My prayers for Amy's family will continue and may God permit her to touch the shoulders of the ones who LOVED her so dearly. Amy, as if one of my own, will hold a place in my heart. Donna Higgins Charlie Higgins' mother

I met Amy when she started working as a zookeeper with me at the Bronx Zoo, and have loved her ever since. I still cannot believe that such a kind, warm, bright, cute, silly, intelligent person had to go before her time. My thoughts go out to you all. She will be greatly missed in all the lives she touched.

Amy was my education animal supervisor at the Zoo. She was a truly lovely person and I can hardly remember a single moment when she didn’t have a smile on her face. I remember her talking lovingly to the snakes while she handled them then reminding us with a wink that snakes can't technically hear us, but she just couldn't help it - only one example of her kindness and humor. I am blessed to have known her and been touched by her joyfulness. We are keeping her and her family in our prayers.
