Celebrating the life of
James Francis Rogers
October 15, 1935 - April 12, 2007
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles.
James Francis Rogers 71 died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Candler Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Albany, New York to Ruth Turner Rogers and Charles Rogers.
Jim graduated from Albany High School in 1953 as President of the Senior Class and afterward obtained a B.A. and M.A. from State Teachers College.
His work experience was very diversified ranging from a high school business teacher, to an account analyst on the New York Stock Exchange. He held several management positions in retail businesses in the Capital District, before embarking on a career as the sole proprietor of J.R.’s Glass in East Greenbush, New York.
In 1973, he exchange marriage vows with Patricia Malek and embarked on a lifelong journey with his soulmate Patti. Not a day passed in their 33 years of marriage without Jim saying “I love you” to her a least a dozen times.
In 2003 they moved to Savannah to escape the cold snowy weather in upstate New York and spent the next three years becoming acquainted with Savannah’s warm and friendly people and enjoying many happy times.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Rogers, a sister, June Harrington of Albany, New York, his treasured mother-in-law, Margaret Malek of Savannah and three nieces and a nephew. As an avid cat-lover, he also leaves behind his precious cats, Thomas, Georgia and Savannah.
He is predeceased by his parents, his step-father B. Dewey and one sister, Mae E. Rogers.
Jim would like to be remembered as a man who enjoyed a laugh, always had an opinion, and felt true compassion for the lost, forgotten and disenfranchised in society. In his memory, spread kindness wherever you go.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 17, 2007 from 12 noon until service time at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with burial in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Dear Patty, Pam and I would like to express our sincere sympathies for your loss of our Uncle Jimmy. We have many fond memories of Jimmy, especially our fun with him when we were kids. I can't resist mentioning the mashed potatoes! We'll never forget happy times at Gram and Pa's, your wedding, and 25th anniversary party among other events. To this day, i still have friends who call me 'Pudy'; when i was little, i couldn't say Jim; i said Pim, so he called me Pudy. We hope you will be well; best wishes to your mom, too. Love, Judy and Pam

Ms. Patti, I so enjoyed getting to know James over the last several months at the Islands Branch Library. He and I would always discuss sports, especially the Atlanta Braves.
