JAMES F. COACH BOBBY MCBRIDE

James F. Coach Bobby McBride 89, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Hospice Savannah. He was a native and lifelong resident of Savannah. Coach Bobby helped develop the Athletic Program at St. James Catholic Church. He coached football and baseball for over 25 years at St. James and Blessed Sacrament. His commitment to youth athletics earned him the Coach Bobby McBride Day presented to him by the City of Savannah, the naming of the St. James football field “Bobby McBride Field, and a scholarship fund in his name at St. James, the Bobby McBride Scholarship Award. He was a recipient of the Gartland Award. Coach Bobby was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church and was retired from the Local 188. He also was member of the Golden Boys, which volunteered to help the handicapped in building ramps or whatever they needed.

Surviving are his sons, Robert J. McBride of Atlanta, Timothy F. McBride of Atlanta, Ronald W. McBride of Savannah, Dennis J. McBride of Hendersonville, NC, Kerry E. McBride of Savannah, his niece, Dianne Sauers of Savannah, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
