Savannah, GA - W. R. “Billie” Lincoln, Jr., 85, died Friday June 15, 2007 at Candler Hospital.
Billie was born September 22, 1921 in Savannah. He served in WWII in the 187th division and later retired from Norfolk Southern Rail Road after forty-two years. Mr. Lincoln was a very active member and Sunday School teacher at Southside Baptist Church in Savannah and Montgomery Heights Baptist Church in Commerce, GA. He was a Mason and an avid gardener. Billie was a mentor to many people including his sons and grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Sybil L. Lincoln of Savannah; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jane L. and Jim Bundy of Washington, GA and Debbie Bennett and fiancé Beau of Savannah; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Elizabeth Lincoln of Baton Rouge, LA, Marion and Sandy Lincoln of Faulkville, GA and Danny and Sally Lincoln of Commerce, GA; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday June 17, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday June 18, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
