Ruby Riggs Davenport

SAVANNAH – Ruby Riggs Davenport, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Hospice House in Savannah, GA, surrounded by her family. She was born in Manassas, GA, and lived in Savannah for all of her adult life. She retired from the Savannah Chatham County Public School System in 1986 after twenty years of service. She was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, formerly a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she belonged to Grace Crusaders Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Alex Jefferson Cornett.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Jack E. Davenport, and her three daughters, Debbie Williamson, Jackie Fall Larry and Susan Cornett Robert, all of Savannah; grandchildren, Sean Williamson Christina, Ryan Williamson, Heather Fall and Erin Cornett; three sisters, Ouida M. Riggs, Nita R. Harley and Jeanette R. Hendrix; and three sisters-in-law, Julie Riggs, Betty Riggs and Lazetta Riggs, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family gives special thanks to Reverend Billy Hester, Reverend Suzanne Cole Wages, Dr. Mohammad Masroor, and to the staffs of Hospice Savannah, Candler Hospital and Azalealand Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2007, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, with Reverend Suzanne Cole Wages officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
