DEWEY WADE WEST

- Savannah- Dewey Wade West, 82, passed away August 13, 2007 at Candler Hospital after a short illness, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Savannah, GA on August 29, 1924. He was the son of the late Lorenzo and Letha West of Savannah, GA.
He was a WW II veteran from the United States Navy. He worked for Coastal Paper Company for 25 years and then became co-owner of Morrison Chemical Company for the last 25 years in Savannah and also was a charter member and Deacon of the Ephesus Baptist Church in Rincon.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; Wilbur Eugene West and John Oliver West both of Savannah, GA.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Burroughs West of Savannah, GA.; one daughter, Phyllis Rick Buckley of Savannah, GA.; three sons, Phillip Linda West of Pooler, GA., Mark Vivian West of Knoxville, TN. and Derek West of Rincon, GA.; two sisters, Susan Valdes of Tucson, AZ. and Betty Jerry Gregory of Abilene, TX.; four brothers, Donald Elaine West of Savannah, GA., Lonnie Pam West of Charleston, SC., Joe Rebecca West of Tampa, FL. and Tony Annie West of Ellabell, GA.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ephesus Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 436; Rincon, GA. 31326.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
