Jane Gaynell Mowen Neikirk

Jane Gaynell Mowen Neikirk, 89, died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Mrs. Neikirk was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on August 18, 1918 and has lived in Savannah since 1946. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for over sixty years. Mrs. Neikirk served on the church council and founded St. Paul’s Lutheran Day School. She taught Sunday school for twenty-five years and was a member of Circle # 8 W.E.L.C.A. Mrs. Neikirk also served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was a member of Savannah Golf Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin G. Neikirk, Jr.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Terry L. and Mary Neikirk of Barrington, Illinois; two grandsons, Robert Neikirk and wife, Holly of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Dan Neikirk of Watkinsville, Georgia; one great grandson, Ryan Neikirk and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2007 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Peter J. Hartmann officiating.

Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Remembrances may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 10 West 31st Street Savannah, Georgia 31401.
