Elena Cervydas Kvedaras

Elena Cervydas Kvedaras, 92, born June 9, 1915 passed peacefully into eternal life at her home Sunday, September 2, 2007.
She was a native of Lithuania. She graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery DDS in 1940. Her practice of dentistry was interrupted by World War II.
Elena was married for 64 years to Antanas Kvedaras who predeceased her November 2006. The couple moved to Savannah in 1982 where they were members of St. James Catholic Church.
Elena is survived by her brother, Antanas Cervydas, daughter, Julita Dr. John Shallal, of Savannah, and daughter, Virginia Dr. Lawrence Hatzenbeler, of Troy, Michigan.
Elena was blessed with five grandchildren, John T. Shallal Denise, Andrew L. Shallal Emily both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Audra Elena Shallal-Platov Dr. Ilya of Paris, France and Paul J. Hatzenbeler and Christian A. Hatzenbeler both of Troy, Michigan.
Elena also had five great-grandchildren, Christopher C. Shallal, Nicholas A. Shallal, John A. Shallal and Alexander B. Shallal-Platov and Davis B. Shallal both who were born within on week of their Great-Grandmama’s passing.
Elena was a woman of deep faith, courage and intelligence. She was an accomplished pianist who instilled her daughters and their families with a love of music, art and ballet. An elegant woman of great taste and style she created beauty around her in her homes and her rose gardens.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Southfield, Michigan at Divine Providence Church on September 10, 2007 with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Mass offerings may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 8412 Whitfield Ave, Savannah, GA 31406.
