Marguerite  Bleichner

Marguerite Griffith Bleichner, 86, died September 3, 2007 at Tara at Thunderbolt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, daughter of the late Edward Castle and Mary Bartlett Griffith. She was educated in Tampa, Florida and Altamont, New York Schools. She worked for Todd Shipbuilders in Tampa during World War II. She married Charles W. Bleichner in 1946 in Scotia, New York. Mrs. Bleichner lived briefly in Royston, Georgia and Warner Robins, Georgia prior to moving to Savannah. Through the years of residing in different states, Mrs. Bleichner was in strong demand as a theatre producer having produced the “King and I” for the State University of New York Drama Department and “Caine Mutiny at LaSallette Seminary in Altamont, New York She was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and an avid bridge player.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Charles W. Bleichner of Savannah; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward C. and Dorcas Bleichner of Marietta; Paul R. and Lucinda Bleichner of Chamblee; Dr. John C. and Gail Bleichner of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Mark Bleichner, Michael Bleichner and his wife, Leigh Ann; Ricky Tierny, Brian Tierny; Charlie Bleichner; Laura Bleichner, Douglas Bleichner and great grandson, Lucas Bleichner.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with a Christian Wake Service at 5:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial: 12:00 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2007 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with The Reverend Patrick O’Brien, Celebrant.

Burial: Catholic Cemetery.
